Long centuries people were not allowed to be as creative as they are today. Creative thinking was a privilege of rich and powerful. Many could not thing that thinking creatively is something all humans are capable for from their birth. Creative thinking is given to you, it can be improved and developed.
Actually, all kids are creative and curious. It is a huge misconception the talent defines this ability. The only reason we can see huge differences in the levels of creativity and ability to think creatively with kids is how much these skills and abilities are fostered at home and school.
Secondly, creativity is a process to put your imagination at work and it is possible to teach a child to think creatively by following specific patterns. This is by the way is what we are doing at our creative thinking classes. Kids can learn creating new things and innovation by framing their imagination, controlling the flow of their thinking.
So, next time when you hear something like “she/he is creative from their birth” do not trust it as creative thinking is for everyone and everyone has this skill. You only need to help it flourish.
